MV Samambaia Accommodation Details
With an overall length of 40 meters (130 feet) and a beam of 9 meters (29 feet), and catering to only 14 guests, the Samambaia offers 7 tastefully decorated staterooms: 2 double cabins, 2 convertible cabins (double or twin) and 2 twin cabins on the lower deck, plus a beautiful 160 sq.ft. Master Cabin with stunning 180 sea views on the main deck. Each stateroom has a private en-suite bathroom, under bed storage, wardrobes and individually controlled AC.

ITINERARY INFORMATION
Detailed information about the itinerary
AMBON - SORONG ITINERARY (11 NIGHTS)
- Day 1 - Embarkation
- Arrival with plane to Ambon. You will be picked up by crew members at the airport.
- Day 2- Ambon
- Check dives at an easy and protected dive site. 2 muck dives in the bay of Ambon (afternoon and after sunset)
- Day 3 - Nusa Laut
- In early morning, will arrive at the island of Nusa Laut. 2 dive sites (either wall or slope diving). Greate variety of reef fish as well as large schools of jacks. Bumphead Parrotfish like to pass by here also.
- Day 4-5 - Banda Islands
- A historical walk through the town of Banda Neira with its museom and two forts is a must. An interesting option for ambitious challenge seekers is to climb Gunung Api, which raises 600m above sea level. A dive site called "Lava Flow" is one of the most pristine hard coral reefs you will ever see.
- Day 6- Koon & Madorang
- After two dive sites in Koon before lunch, will head north towards Raja Ampat whilst on the way, we will do a wall dive along the pretty walls of Madorang.
- Day 7 - Misool
- The first dive site will be the "Magic Mountain." The amont of biomass here is just off the scale; There are tons of Blacktip, Whitetop and Grey Reef Sharks, Napoleon Wrasses, Stonefish, Wobbegong Sharks, and Barracudas. Another two more day dives around the eastern part of the island of Boo. One of the signature dive sites of this area is the "Boo Windows" - a spectacular swim through gave the dive site its fame, the marine life surrounding it will keep us busy watching during the whole dive. Another great dive site is the "Hidung Boo" where you can see the biggest sea fans.
- Day 8 - Misool - Fiabatjet
- Right in the heart of the No-Take-Zone, "Tank Rock", "Nudi Rock" and "Whale Rock" are the famous and commonly dived sites here.
- Day 9- Misool - Farondi
- A lot of life and colours, combined with caverns, caves and swim throughs. And if you happen to hit this area at the right time (which changes every season), you will find yourself amidst a bloom of Silversides and Mobula Rays.
- Day 10- Dampier Strait
- The reef of the island of Kri is the current world record holder with the highest number of fish species ever encounterd by a scientist in only a single dive. Encounters with Manta Rays are very common here.
- Day 11- Dampier
- The conclusion of the in-water activities of this trip would be to snorkel and feed Mantas. Also, on the way back, there could be also time for whale and dolphin encounters.
- Day 12- Disembarkation in Sorong
Sorong - SORONG (North) ITINERARY (11 NIGHTS)
- Day 1 - Embarkation
- Arrival with plane to Sorong. You will be picked up by crew members at the airport. Embarkation in the port of Ambon.
- Day 2 - Dampier Strait
- After general dive briefing, check dives at an easy and protected dive site. 2 relaxed dives to prepare for the diverse and lush diving and snorkelling.
- Day 3 - Yanggelo
- Outside the mangroves of Yanggelo, there are three attractive dive sites to look forward.
- Day 4 - Jef Fam
- Towards the end of the dive, the guides will introduce you to a huge Giant Clam, estimated to be more than 80 years old. Still have several more dive sites to pick from over the day and in the afternoon, a stunning view point is waiting for you with 312 stairs leading up to it.
- Day 5 - Wofoh
- Diving around Wofoh is spectacular and yet hardly any liveaboard goes there.
- Day 6 - Alyui
- The bay of Alyui is home to some of the most spectacular macro diving in all of Raja Ampat. There is also the pearl farm of Atlas South Sea Parks to visit.
- Day 7 - Kawe
- Eagle Rocks is known for being a Manta Ray cleaning station. 1-2 dives here in the morning to head north afterwards. Right before crossing the equator, there will be another dive at a secret spot of ours. Also a good potential for Manta Ray encounters.
- Day 8 - Wayag
- Early morning climb to Mt. Pindito to enjoy a breathtaking view. In the afternoon, we will take you on a speedboat ride through this maze of islands to end up at a perfect beach.
- Day 9 - Mansuar / Arborek
- In the afternoon, we will dive the jetty of the small island of Arborek. Then, a little visit to the village on the island.
- Day 10 - North Batanta
- The northern coast of the island of Batanta gives us several opportunities for excellent dive sites to pick from. Beautiful coral reefs, more Manta opportunities, or rather some critter diving? For sunset, we will pull into a bay where Hornbills come in to sleep.
- Day 11 - Dampier
- The conclusion of the in-water activities of this trip would be to snorkel and feed Mantas. Also, on the way back, there could be also time for whale and dolphin encounters.
- Day 12 - Disembarkation in Sorong
SORONG - Kaimana ITINERARY (11 NIGHTS)
- Day 1- Embarkation
- Arrival with plane to Sorong. You will be picked up by crew members at the airport. Embarkation in the port of Sorong.
- Day 2- Daram
- We will spend a whole day here and offer four world class dives.
- Day 3- Sel Pele
- Raja Ampat means "Four Kings" and this is also the name of a dive site on the way to the island group of Sel Pele. Four pinnacles that are not only connected by their topography but also a fish soup surrounding them.
- Day 4- Wayil
- Barracuda Rock, Wedding Cake and Dunia Kecil are the dive sites which we will spend this day at. In the afternoon, we will offer a two hour speedboat ride into hidden coves to enjoy stunning limtestone islands. At the end, we will get to a pristine white sand beach.
- Day 5- Boo / Warakaraket
- A combination of day diving in "Hidung Boo" and at least one dive at "Magic Mountain"
- Day 6- Fiabatjiet
- Right in the heart of the No-Take-Zone, "Tank Rock", "Nudi Rock" and "Whale Rock" are the famous and commonly dived sites here.
- Day 7- Fiabatjiet
- This area is just too good to only spend one day here. This has plenty of dive sites to offer world class diving.
- Day 8- Pulau Pisang
- Located just half way between Triton Bay and Raja Ampat South, Pulau Pisang offer a nice diving stop on the way. The condition of the reef are very good and the marine life is plenty.
- Day 9- Pulau Namatota
- Around Pulau Namatota, there are floating fishing platforms (bagan) with a bright light on them, which are used to attract fishes and trap them on the net. The fishermen will then come and lift the full net of fishes before the sunrise. So, it is a good timing to attract the whale sharks to tay around the bagan. On this day, we have to wake up early before the fishermen pull out the net. In the afternoon, we will move to Tanjung Papisoi.
- Day 10- Pulau Aiduma
- We will dive in a very famous spot of "Larry's Heaven." Once you dive in, you will be stunned with the colors and the biodiversity of this spot.
- Day 11- Kaimana Regency
- The marine biodiversity here is beyond fantastic and continues to surprise us with new finds every time we go diving. For the first dive, we will expect to see a school of Fusilier, Giant Grouper, Turtles, Bump Heads, Wobbegongs, Jacks, Sweet Lips, and some beautiful soft corals.
- Day 12- Disembarkation in Kaimana
MAUMERE - LABUAN BAJO ITINERARY (11 NIGHTS)
- Day 1- Embarkation
- Arrival with plane to Maumere. You will be picked up by crew members at the airport. Embarkation in the port of Maumere. We move to Pulau Babi where, after an initial general dive briefing, we will do our check dive at an easy and protected dive site.
- Day 2- Pulau Raja
- In the morning, we offer three dives there before moving to the National Park of Komodo. We will stay here until the afternoon and snorkelling is always a good option here.
- Day 3-4- Komodo - The North
- We arrive in the morning in the northern part of the famous Komodo National Park. In the afternoon and at night, two more world-class dives at famous sites like "The Golden Passage", "The Cauldron", or "Lighthouse."
- Day 5- Banta
- We will spend the whole day in a greate variety of dive sites. One of our favorite spots here is our secret spot which happens to be a Manta cleaning station. For sunset we offer some trekking on a hill which will reward you with an epic view over the bay, the sun setting behind the volcano of Sangeang. After dinner, we take you on a night dive on a sandy slope.
- Day 6- Komodo Central
- Over the day, we are heading south through the National Park and look into doing an easy drift dive over an impeccable reef, like "Tatawa Besar"
- Day 7- Rinca Trekking, then heading for Nusa Kode
- Trekking with Komodo dragons in the morning before it gets too hot in the sun. After this adventure, we will be heading to the south of Rinca, also known as Nusa Kode or Horseshoe Bay.
- Day 8- Nusa Kode
- We offer three more day dives in the Horseshoe Bay. Some of our favorite dive sites here include "Cannibal Rock", "The Yellow Wall of Texas", "Devil's Corner" and "Torpedo Alley"
- Day 9- Manta Alley & Padar
- Overlunch, we will move to Padar where we can dive in "Three Sister." In the afternoon, we can visit the pink beach and with a little climbing we get a spectacular breathtaking view of the Komodo Park at the sunset.
- Day 10- Komodo Central
- Potential dive sites for the day: "Batu Bolong" and "Manta Point"
- Day 11- Pulau Sabolan & Seraja
- We spend the last day of the trip in two small island that have nice dive site with a resident school of Bumhead Parrotfish, garden eels in the white sandy bottom and colorful soft corals.
- Day 12- Disembarkation in Labuan Bajo
Maumere - MAUMERE ITINERARY (11 NIGHTS)
- Day 1- Embarkation
- Arrival with plane to Maumere. You will be picked up by crew members at the airport. A general orientation follows.
- Day 2- Serbete & Adonara
- After an initial general dive briefing, we will do our check dive at an easy and protected dive site.
- Day 3- Lembata's Critters
- Sandy critter diving par excellence. One spot is at a pier, the other ones are a bit further to the east.
- Day 4- Lembata South
- Time for some action-packed diving in the morning. We have two great dive sites here, a secret cavern home to White Tip Reef Sharks and "Pulau Suangi" rock exposed to the open ocean. In the afternoon, we offer a visit to the traditional whaling village of Lamalera. Finishing the day with a night dive at an excellent secret spot of ours, "The Corner Shop"
- Day 5- Kambing & Pantar
- Facing the Savu Sea, the southern coast of Pantar and Pulau Kambing are exposed to strong upwellings and swells full of nutrition from the deep.
- Day 6- Beangabang
- A protected bay which is said to have a better macro life than the famous Lembeh Strait. No time limit here on the night dive.
- Day 7- Pura & Alor
- All our dives are going to be either slope or wall dives. We have spotted here in the past: Oceanic Sunfish, Big Dogtooth Tuna, and Thresher Sharks.
- Day 8- Kalabahi Bay
- All-day hunting of critters in the protected bay of Kalabahi.
- Day 9- North Alor
- Before we leave the area around Alor to head back west again, we will offer you three more dives here. Either wide-angle wall and slope dives or some more macro dives.
- Day 10- Lembata & Komba
- We will do three dives in daytime. Either at a spot called "The Shark Wall" or at a fantastic critter spot. In the afternoon, we will head north towards the active volcano of Komba, which erupts every 15 to 20 minutes.
- Day 11- Maumere Bay
- Our last day before disembarkation, we will spend at a beautifully quiet and protected anchorage in the bay of Maumere. In the morning, we offer you a wreck dive (Wodong Wreck). The afternoon, we spend at this anchorage, filled with some in-water fun such as wake boarding and waterskiing and the famous Floating Bar.
- Day 12- Disembarkation in Maumere
