Close Encounters with Humpback Whales in French Polynesia - Bluewater 2024 Group Trip Review I wanted to write a review about my trip. I went with Bluewater Dive Travel on the humpback whale trip in September. it was amazing! Mark Strickland was our guide and he was so kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. I learned a lot about the whales. I was worried that I wouldn’t see many whales but we say whales every day we went out on the boat. it was a littler harder than I expected with the swimming and I got sea sick a good bit. However, it didn’t take away from the experience whatsoever. It was the experience of a lifetime! Also, I was surprised at how gorgeous the accommodations were, pictures don’t do it justice. It was paradise! I wasn’t sure which dive companies to choose and I was so impressed with how respectful they are of the whales. I really wanted to go with a group that respected nature. If you want the experience of a lifetime with a knowledgeable and respectful group, this is the experience for you!!

Moorea is one of the best destinations in the world for humpback whale encounters. The water is crystal clear and the topside is beautiful. It's also a quick and easy non-stop flight from Los Angeles. It's not a budget destination (hotels and food is quite pricy), but it is fantastic!

Moorea is one of the most beautiful islands in the world. The humpback whale encounters in Aug, Sep, Oct are the best in the world. The snorkeling with fish, sharks and rays is amazing - especially at the Moorea lagoonarium, and the diving is decent. The topside activities are a huge draw. The island is quiet, friendly, and moves slowly in a good way. You can ride a bike around the island, walk, hitchhike, or drive. The restaurants are amazing. It is not cheap, but overtime I've realized that Moorea is worth the extra expense. The island is a close ferry ride from Tahiti. Combine it with Bora-bora with family or a loved-one, or a trip to Fakarava or Rangiroa for the ultimate dive trip!

Moorea ... WOW!!! What an amazing destination. If you go between August and October, spending a few days in the water swimming with humpback whales is a must do. The diving is also excellent with lots of sharks, rays and turtles. Black tip reef sharks and lemon sharks are the most common, and tiger sharks are sometimes also seen by divers. Visibility is easily over 100ft, and the water is the bluest you will encounter anywhere. There are luxury resorts with overwater bungalows, and more affordable family run lodges to fit every budget.Restaurants are pricey but food is excellent! There are also lots of inexpensive options at food stands along the street. When not in the water, I really enjoy renting a scooter and driving around the island, stopping at different beaches and taking in the sights.Moorea is not cheap, but the extremely good value for money for what you get.A great destination for divers and non-divers.
