Dive Sites
- Big Drop Off
- Divers and snorkelers both enjoy this beautiful wall because it starts near the surface then plunders straight into the deep. The shallow reef extends all the way to the Ngemelis island. Youll be so astonished by the different colors of soft corals and corals as you snorkel at this area.
- Blue Hole
- Blue Hole is one of the most astounding dive spots in Palau. It is located at Ngemelis rock island. Divers dive from knee-deep into a hole and straight down to exit at 80 degree (24m) into a huge sun lit cathedral chamber, which opens out into the open ocean to the drop-off. In a good current, you can drift along the vertical wall over to another spectacular dive spot called Blue Corner.
- Blue Corner
- Blue Corner is one of the most requested dive spots in Palau. It is located at Ngemelis rock island and not too far from another dive spot called Blue Hole. If the current is good, you can drift along the vertical wall to Blue hole or do the whole thing in reverse. It is known for its sheers abundance of underwater life like turtles, manta ray, eagle rays, Napoleon wrasse, white tip sharks, schooling of
- barracuda and many more. Blue Corner has been rated and it ranked at No.5 of 6 things to do in Palau by Lonely Planet Travellers. Its a dive spot that can be different every time you dive it and youll want to go back again and again.
- Ulong Channel
- Ulong Channel is situated on the west coast of Palau and is regarded as one of the best dive spots in the world. The best time to make a dive is on the incoming tide. The entrance is covered with the coral gardens and at the sandy bottom, there are sharks congregate to feed on the fishes that swept inside. This is a breathtaking experience with close encounter on two things, with feeding sharks, their prey and wonderful coral garden formation.
- German Channel
- German channel is one of the unique and highly recommended spots to all divers. The channel was made by the Germans during their period in Palau around 1900s to enable their ship access from the open water to the lagoons. This is why and how the name came forth. The main attraction at this dive spot is not on numerous kinds of reef fish, the interesting shells, or leopard sharks and others but mainly on the parade of manta rays that use the channel to go from the open ocean to the inner lagoon. Youll be so enthralled that the experience will not be forgotten.

More information about Palau diving
Famous for its manta rays, German Channel is a passage between Ngemelis and Ngercheu Islands. The dive site offers a chance to see not only mantas but also eagle rays, reef sharks, and schooling fish. It’s a drift dive hotspot, where divers can let the current guide them over the reef while observing a variety of marine life. Due to heavy boating traffic, divers must be cautious when surfacing, making use of safety markers like SMBs. The site’s diversity of marine life makes it one of Palau's most visited locations.
Considered among Palau’s most famous dive sites, Blue Corner and Blue Hole are teeming with marine life. Blue Corner, a current-swept drop-off, is a meeting point for various reef fish, sharks, and large schools of jacks, barracudas, and snappers. Divers may also encounter eagle rays, turtles, and the occasional whale shark or manta ray. Nearby, Blue Hole is a large cavern illuminated by sunlight shafts, creating a spectacular underwater atmosphere. While the main cavern is accessible for all divers, the deeper caves require specialized certification for exploration. Both sites offer breathtaking coral formations, gorgonian sea fans, and a dynamic array of marine species.

Located conveniently on the main road in the center of Palau, Palasia Hotel offers a mid-town experience with some notable strengths and areas for improvement. The hotel is easily accessible by pre-arranged 30 minute shuttle from Palau/Roman Tmetuchi International Airport (ROR) in Koror. There is an excellent range of well priced restaurants within walking distance. The urban environment of Palasia Hotel features a multi-storey structure, with public areas recently renovated but rooms showing signs of age. The hotel boasts two large pools, including a lap-sized pool, and a well-equipped gym. However, amenities like the sauna, steam room, and laundry facilities were reported as not working during my stay. It's worth noting that rooms facing the road can be noisy due to traffic, especially with a bar across the road open until 2 am.In terms of accommodations, the hotel provides daily housekeeping and new towels, along with essential toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion. WiFi access is available, and guests are provided with slippers and robes for added comfort.Meals at Palasia Hotel are budget-friendly, with a focus on Asian cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the cafe. Options also include egg and sausage for breakfast, and burgers are available for lunch and dinner. The hotel's bar serves espresso coffee, an elusive treat to find in Palau.Overall, Palasia Hotel stands out for its friendly service and convenient location. However, improvements can be made in noise management for rooms facing the road and ensuring that all amenities, including the sauna, steam room, and laundry facilities, are in working condition for guests' comfort.
