I stayed at Atlantis Resort Dumaguete for a few days and would definitely return. The resort is really spacious, and the rooms are large with great air-conditioning, TVs with English movie channels, and huge bathrooms featuring rain showers and even a bench. The curtains are quite thin, so if you are light sensitive like me, bring a good eye mask. The food was fantastic! The chef went above and beyond to cater to my gluten and dairy allergies, even making me ice cream and brownies, which was such a treat. The restaurant overlooks the beach, so it’s really nice to sit there and watch the divers come back after their dives. The muck diving was a highlight. The guides are absolute pros at spotting all the cool stuff—we even played bingo to check everything off the list! Some of the muck dive sites have artificial reefs, which add a bit of color to the dives. I also did a full-day trip to Apo Island for 3 dives, and the sites there were beautiful and full of life. They serve a fresh, cooked lunch on the boat, with a variety of platters to suit everyone’s dietary needs. They’ve got both small and large dive boats. The smaller ones use a backroll entry and a ladder to climb back on board, while the larger boats offer a giant stride or walk-in entry with super easy, angled stairs to get back on after you take off your gear. The larger boats are really spacious, with plenty of seating, tea and coffee, and even a toilet on board. Sometimes at low tide you have to walk across pebbles, so I would recommend booties. The dive center is very large with showers and your own lockers to put all your equipment, wet and dry. They put up photos of all the staff who are on that day and the dive guides, so you always know who you are diving with. They have a very well setup camera room with plenty of space for everyone. All in all, it was a fantastic experience, and I’d go back in a heartbeat!

The resort, the restaurant and the dive centre are very nice, comfortable and clean. The chef is exceptionally good and helpful with special dietary needs. The staff are very friendly and the Dive Masters and boat crews very good, attentive and helpful. Dive boats are comfortable and secure. The dives sites along the coast provide excellent opportunity for muck diving and photography, and the coral reef at the Apo island (extra cost) is spectacular. Be aware that the rooms are small and Spartan, expect additional charges, and if you plan to do SSI speciality courses, make sure beforehand that the Dive Instructor understands exactly what you want to do, to make sure that he does not make you do SSI Advanced Adventurer instead of SSI Advanced Open Water.

This is a great resort with good divemasters and personnel. The food and accommodations were very nice and accommodating. Be sure and take as many trips to the outer islands as they offer as this is the best diving anywhere in the area. The large boat is really weird accouraging to our standards, a wooden boat with a fire box in the middle and a head that if you stand up you can see everyone on the boat and everyone can see you.

If you love to dive then Atlantis is the place for you. Divers are offered 5 dives a day with most dives sites within a 10 minute boat ride from the resort. The dive sites close to Atlantis are a muck divers dream where one can see upwards of 10 Frogfish, 5 octopus, and tons of crustaceans on a single dive. However, if the vibrant colors of reefs are what you are looking for Atlantis is only a day trip away from beautiful Apo and Siquijor island. Atlantis also offers incredible massages for those who want to take the afternoon off and relax by the pool and have a fantastic zen massage experience. Additionally, the food is fantastic with an expansive menu that even the pickiest eater will find something they love. But, what makes Atlantis is the people who bring happiness and joy to your stay. I cannot recommend this place enough and it is well worth the time it takes to get to the pristine resort.
