Argo Liveaboard
It was a total magic carpet ride! I loved it all. Undersea Hunter was great and the crew and dive masters were professional, and fun too. I had a spacious room with twin beds on either side. There were some fumes lingering below deck there but all was clean and well maintained. If that's the best I definitely want to stay that way on future trips. I guess conditions and sea life were considered not that good compared to what they can be, but it blew everything else I've seen out of the water. Admittedly that's not much and I've never done a live aboard before. It was pretty rough and I was seasick a lot but still had the time of my life. So I lost a few pounds; bonus. The skiffs were easy to dive from even in 2 meter seas, and the dive operation was the best organized I've seen. The island was beyond gorgeous with lush water falls and formations, and booby birds galore. Every ride to and from a dive site was a feast for the eyes. I wanted to see sharks and now I've seen like a thousand of them. There were walls of hundreds of schooling hammerheads, white tip reef sharks everywhere day and night, and Galapagos sharks cruising through channels and cleaning stations every day. On a night dive I jumped in first to wait for the rest of the team at Manuelita Coral Garden, looked down at some eels, lobster, cucumbers, and white tips sharks building into their feeding frenzy, and then something made me look left. A refrigerator-sized animal was cruising directly toward me. I was so happy to be about to see something big…tiger shark! I lit it up and it made a slow half circle and cruised effortlessly into the dark. Soon after, the dive master signaled with a strobe to rejoin the team, which I had somehow become separated from.
There were huge tuna and black jack, acres of schooling fish, and marble rays. I sprang for the Deep See 300 meter dive, as did just about everyone. It was pitch black and everything moved in slow motion down there. It wasn't a non stop adrenaline rush but we saw some really neat stone fish, grouper, glowing gelatinous things, jello nose fish, and other strange things.
The whole experience, the boat, the crew, and the people were awesome. On the crossing home I was completely relaxed and satisfied like never before. I want to go back and do it all again and do everything else too.
