Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park in the Philippines has been growing in popularity as a liveaboard destination. This UNESCO World Heritage Site[1] is renowned for its out-of-this-world biodiversity and is often referred to as the best place to dive in the Philippines. There are now around a dozen Tubbataha liveaboards to choose from, from mid-range to luxury.
Tubbataha Reef is easier to get to compared to other world-class liveaboard destinations in the Coral Triangle, namely Raja Ampat, Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea. Fly internationally into Manila (MNL) then take another short flight to Puerto Princessa (PPR). Most liveaboards will pick you up at the airport, either for free or with a reasonable surcharge.
A Tubbataha Reef liveaboard is the only way to dive in this protected marine park. Note that the diving season in Tubataha is brief, lasting only from March to June, with some transition from trips offered before and after each season. Book your Tubbataha liveaboard trip early to secure your spot!

While Tubbataha might not have the marine life density that Raja Ampat is famous for, the "big fish" action in Tubbataha is more prominent. At certain dive sites, divers can see plenty of sharks, various types of rays, the occasional whale sharks. Macro photographers can find smaller marine life like nudibranchs, ornate ghost pipefish, seahorses, and frogfish.
