REVIEW OF INDO-SIREN KOMODO TRIP

The Siren staff was very helpful throughout this trip. The trip was to Komodo.

GETTING TO KOMODO

We chose to spend a few days in Bali before leaving for the ship and recommend this as you have at least one forced overnight in each direction due to connections and domestic air fluctuations in schedule. We had to check our camera carryon bags on the flights between Bali and Bima as well as pay about 300 USD in overweight baggage charges due to my bringing a rebreather along. We were met at the airports by Siren staff who helped us through. Transfer to and from the boat was easy. Due to a CHANGE IN THE AIRLINE SCHEDULE, WE MISSED THE MUCK DIVE IN BIMA BAY THE FIST DAY ON BOARD.

Thre rest of the dives occurred as planned. Cannibal rock was my favorite and was where we saw a Lacy purple rhinopia. Water temp was comfortable most of the time in my 1.6 mm suit, on one occasion, I had to supplement it with a shorty over it. The boat was well maintained, and cabins roomy. Staff were helpful and friendly. Well thought out dive boat with all diving done via rigid inflatables. Lots of marine life and superb healthy reefs. Guides were knowledgeable of the area.

I would go again in a heartbeat!!!!

The perfect critter scavenge hunt. Dive sites withing minutes of the dock, a well polished operation with excellent guides. Accommodations are nice and clean with double beds, private bathroom, wireless internet that worked, AC works. Food was varied, both local and international types, well prepared, plenty to eat and is excellent. Ideal to combine with a Bunaken visit. Plan on at least a week. Nitrox is available. Camera workroom has all that you need, electrical connections and air blower with good lighting
We hired a private guide, but the ratio was 1:4 when we were there. They had a house reef that looked good but we did not have time to dive it

They meet you at the airport, after about a 30 minute drive you arrive at the boat dock for transfer to the resort. All your gear is transferred smoothly for about a 30-40 minute boat trip to the island. Then a short walk from the dock to the resort. The resort in in excellent shape, very clean with staff constantly doing some cleaning or maintenance. You are greeted with a welcome drink as you register and receive an intro to the resort. Main building has a shop, bar, restaurant surrounding the large pool. Rooms are separate bungalows some with ocean view, ours had a garden view. They are spaced far enough apart to give privacy and lock. The AC worked great, outdoor bathroom and the electric power did not fail during our stay. Food was good, local cuisine with adequate portions, enough choices to last the week without becoming redundant. The staff was always friendly, helpful and refused to let you carry anything of any significance. Dive boats had from 4-8 guests on them with usually 1 guide /4 people. Arrangements can be made for private or semiprivate guides. The diving was typical indonesia, good visibility, lots of critters and weird currents. The house reef is great, super coral and lots of fish and other marine life. I would go back in a heartbeat
