I dove around Nusa Penida, a small island just under an hour boat ride from Bali. The diving was absolutely fantastic! I did the famous Manta Point. When we visited there were not so many boats around and the water was very clear. I counted like 6 mantas swimming around me at once. They were so beautiful and curious about our bubbles. The Manta Point dive site is all about the manta rays and otherwise, there is not much else to see. It is still completely worth diving there as you get some great close encounters with manta rays. We also went diving at some local reefs and visited dive sites like the Temple and Sental. The current was just perfect and not too strong so we could have a nice easy drift dive. I spotted several nudibranchs, triggerfish, napoleons, trumpet fish, and lots of other fish plus beautiful coral. Also, there were so many turtles just passing us constantly. And to make the dive even better, we saw dolphins from the boat on our way to de dive site and then again underwater while diving. I loved every moment and can recommend the destination to everybody.

Mexico overall is one of my favorite dive destinations because it just has so much variety!

I did some nice reef dives around Playa del Carmen and also all the way down at Xcalak, where we got lucky and saw a pod of dolphins. Our guide said you can often see manatees in Xcalak as well, but unfortunately we were not that lucky. Anyway, the dives were nice there. The best reefs, though, were still in Cozumel with clear blue waters and so much color and life.

I loved diving in the cenotes and I felt like I was in another world. I visited the cenotes around Tulum. El Pit cenote was very impressive with huge underwater space and then the beautiful light beam coming through the entrance. I also liked the Casa Cenote which was an easy dive, but had a really cool halocline effect, some big tarpon fish and even a local resident saltwater crocodile!

Besides diving, I also did some snorkeling around Isla Mujeres. One trip was around a local reef seeing colorful fish and also a sleepy nurse shark. The second trip was snorkeling with whale sharks, which was unforgettable. Being surrounded by these gentle giants is just amazing. Even a few manta rays swam by!

I loved all the diving I did in Mexico and would go back any time.
