Atmosphere resort is an upscale resort that is a step above most dive resorts. If you want to be pampered this is the place. The diving is superb for macro, fish portraits, and wide angle at Apo Island. The diving is valet diving including the amazing house reef. I told them I could not do a shore dive due to my back. They convinced me to go and it was one of my top divers ever. I walked into the water and they brought out all my gear and put it on me and handed me my camera. The dive masters are excellent and will find you the smallest critters. The rooms are beautiful with all the amenities of a fine hotel. The food is very good but not great. Lunch and dinner are sit down and can take up some of your dive time if you let it. I did love the baked Alaska.

Dumaguete Diving

Dumaguete is not just macro although the macro is great. With a macro lens one can also shot fish and critter portraits. Mandarin fishes are easier to shoot than in many other locations.There are nudibranchs ,seahorses, pipe horses. blue- ring octopus, etc.Most dives were boat dives but the shore dive was as good as any boat dive. I suspect the dive master knew where to look. The dive masters have incredible ability to find small animals and are very cooperative. For wide angle there is Apo Island with schools of fish and beautiful corals. The water was warm in the 80s with little to no current.

Sea of Cortez

The marine life was excellent in La Paz for whale sharks, sea lions and bait balls. For macro and fish portraits the area was below average. If wide angle is your desire the marine life would score high. The conditions were mostly calm with some current on a few dives. Top side I did not leave the resort . The malecon looked nice . I suspect that there is not much to see topside. My favorite dive site was the lighthouse with Islotes a close second. At the lighthouse there were large bait balls with sea lions. With a dome port pelicans could have been added to an over/under shot. Islotes had many playful sea lions that were used to people.
