The san ignacio grey whale Experience
Your journey at San Ignacio Lagoon is entirely on the whales' terms. Even mother whales sometimes encourage their young to approach the boats. First documented in 1972, whale interactions here have grown more enchanting each year. Beyond gray whales, visitors can also spot diverse birdlife, including nesting ospreys and egrets. We partner with trusted operators who strictly follow park guidelines, focusing on conservation and respect for the whales. With experienced guides and boat captains, each encounter is safe, responsible, and purely initiated by the whales themselves. The lagoon remains a sanctuary for the world’s last significant gray whale population, offering an unforgettable and deeply personal wildlife experience.
