World Diving Lembongan Bali
After finishing a 3 week underwater videography course in Malaysia in the Celebes Sea near Sipidan Island, I had some extra time on my hands before returning home because some plans fell through so I asked around about options in the area for diving in Indonesia and Bali came highly recommended due to the fantastic diving at a good value. I quickly did some research online with Scuba Board and Trip Advisor and found World Diving Lembongan highly recommended. I booked for 5 days with hopes that I might be lucky enough to see a Mola Mola while I was there.
Upon arrival at World Diving I was warmly greeted by Sue and shown to my room. They have two types of accomodations they offer at the dive shop location. Sea front rooms or garden/pool view rooms. I opted for the sea front room which has AC but no hot water shower. I as a little hesitant about the lack of hot water but it wasn't that cold and I never regretted my choice. I loved the sea front room as it has a little sitting area like a porch where I people watched and also enjoyed the sunsets.
The dive shop was very well run and organized. John and Sue, the owners, have spent more than 15 years developing this dive shop into of the best on the Island and it shows with the attention to detail as well as the highly skilled dive team that they have put together. You feel welcome with the positive attitudes of the staff and there is a very good vibe to the whole place .
Each day Sue and the Dive Master would talk about the best places to dive given the conditions and also the interests of the divers and where people had been and/or want to go. They have two smaller dive boats and one larger boat called Big Boat. I dove on all three boats with different dive masters and I enjoyed all my dives. There was always something wonderful to see as the reefs were teeming with fish. My highlight was that Lady Luck was with me. I saw mantas on my first day at Manta Point and on my second day I got a great look at a Mola Mola in Crystal Bay being cleaned by Bannerfish. Whooo hooo! I was so excited. Got some good video and a few shots. What an amazing fish.
Another nice little bonus of my dive with WD was that I made new friends on the dive boats and we've continued to stay in touch. It's great to make friends from around the world who love diving so you can share your dive adventures with like minded people.
Nusa Lembongan is a small place with a laid back vibe. Lots of good places to eat and stay (highly recommend the Pandok Baruna affiliated with the dive shop). Loved it so much I'll return with my husband September 2014.
