WorldMark, Denarau Island, Fiji Review
WORLDMARK, DENARAU ISLAND, FIJI REVIEW
I spent my first overseas trip at WorldMark at Denarau, as you can imagine, I was a little nervous and a lot excited, not knowing what to expect. We checked into our room and within 20mins, the manage of the entire resort was knocking at our door. She greeted us with complimentary gifts as well as a print out of common Fijian words and saying. She also spent some time telling us about the area, the people and attractions. This was just the start of an amazing week. The staff throughout the resort were extremely polite and helpful at all times. There was also a travel office at the resort where a lady helped us organise the rest of our stay. The resort comes fully loaded with beautiful (air conditioned) rooms, two pools with attached swim up bars, a Mexican restaurant with very friendly staff, BBQs for those who want to cook their own and also a little grocery store for all your neccessities. If you want to try your hand at cooking your own food, as we did, there is a very cheap shuttle bus that goes into the main town centre of Nadi, where you can buy fresh fish, fruits and vegetables for very cheap and then come back to cook it either in your room or out on the BBQ in the amazing Fijian climate.
The grocery shop at WorldMark is relatively cheap, but the restaurant price is what you would pay for back at home.
We organised our dive trip to Beqa Lagoon (on the other side of the Island) through our resort, who happily organised us a taxi to take us the 2hr trip and back at 5am in the morning! It was also much cheaper and a lot less effort than we thought it would be. Denarau Island is around 10minutes from the port and a multitude of ferries and boats can take you up the Mamanuca and Yasawa island chains.
Before my first overseas trip, I was pretty indifferent to travelling overseas. But since visiting Fiji and staying at WorldMark, I've definitely gotten the travelling bug and would love to go back at some stage!
