Location

The dive center is located on Fuvamulah Island in the Maldives and operates with two dive dhonis which can serve 15 - 25 divers at a time. Currently, the only way to get to Fuvahmulah is by taking another domestic flight from the Male' Airport.

Dive Overview

Scuba diving in the Maldives gives you some of the best dive sites in the world. Far less explored than many of the other atolls, Fuvahmulah is a pelagic haven that attracts numerous shark species, manta and mobula rays, and mola mola year-round. Uncharted reefs are a backdrop to regular appearances from thresher, tiger, silvertip, whitetip, and grey reef sharks, as well as open ocean giants such as scalloped hammerheads and whale sharks.

Accommodations

Types of Rooms, Amenities and Photos

Fuvahmulah Dive offers a variety of all-inclusive packages with diving and accommodation. They recommend staying at either the recently-opened Zero Degree Residence Guesthouse or Shark Lounge which are both located a few steps away from the beach and the city's central area. The Zero Degree Residence Guesthouse features 12 spacious rooms in 4 categories, an in-house restaurant, spacious seating areas, and a big terrace with sun beds and sun umbrellas; while the Shark Lounge offers a more intimate experience with 5 rooms that can fit up to 10 pax. Shark Lounge also features an in-house swimming pool, garden, open kitchen-bar area.

Dive Information

DIVING IN THE MALDIVES

The colorful Northern Maldives represent amazing diving spots, tranquility and memorable impressions away from typical locations. Haa Alifu Atoll and Haa Dhaalu Atoll, in the far north of the Maldives, are about 280 km from Male and reachable in only 40 minutes by plane.

Reefs with manta rays and reef sharks, but also stingrays, guitar rays, leopard sharks and a variety of critters typical for Indonesia invite you to unforgettable dives. Not only the underwater photographers will appreciate the big, colorful fields of soft corals in the north of the Maldives, but all divers will.

Crystalline turquoise waters, pure white sand, swaying palms, cobalt blue sky … add to all this the colorful and laidback atmosphere of Maldives.

Get jaw-droppingly close to manta rays, sharks, dolphins, turtles, eel, and whirlwinds of Indian Ocean fish.

The quantity and diversity of marine life at Haa Dhaalu is the star attraction of every guest's Maldives vacation. Diving here is very much about the pelagics, principally sharks, and if you have an innate fear of them then this is the perfect opportunity for ‘in at the deep end’ therapy. This is one of the only places in the world we know where you are guaranteed close encounters with burly and reclusive sharks, along with droves of the more common grey reef and black-tip reef shark.

Fuvahmulah Island is best known for its tiger shark diving. With the Pelagic Divers, guests are guaranteed to encounter a tiger shark in the beautiful reefs that surround the island. Aside from tiger sharks, thresher sharks are also commonly seen in the area, with oceanic Manta and turtles making appearances as well.

Fuvahmulah Divers is a five-star PADI Diving Center that offers everything one would need on their vacation to the Maldives. Up to 25 guests can be comfortably accommodated aboard the two diving boats, both of which are equipped with automatic filling systems. The dive team, dive guides, and operational crew are well-trained and numerous, ensuring that the guides handle only a handful of guests at a time, enforcing safety and promoting a more hands-on experience. All PADI courses as well as a variety of specialty courses are also available for guests to undertake.

A total of 3 dives per day are offered, one of them being Tiger Zoo daily, a guaranteed encounter with Tiger Sharks. The remaining dive sites depending on the weather and ocean conditions.

What makes Fuvahmulah Divers unique is that they also have permanent marine biologists on the dive team that can carry out lectures and shark education for guests. The dive team also carries out official government research on Tiger Sharks and other pelagics, tracking over 200 tiger shark individuals.
