- This is perfect for beginners and training, up 30m/100ft, for more advanced divers that are looking to do something more challenging.
- All of these reefs have a great marine life from sea turtles to spotted eagle rays, from nurse sharks to bull sharks without
- mentioning the tons of moray eels, lobsters, crabs and colorful schools of fish.
- There are reefs and dives perfect for any kind of divers and our staff can suggest the perfect dives for your depending on experience level making sure that everybody gets the most out of their dives!
- Our beautiful local reefs are not only full of coral and marine life but they are also convenient. We off a 2 tank morning dive for the early risers who wish to spend the afternoon with family or exploring Playa del Carmen. Or for the late sleepers, you can catch our afternoon 2 tank dive and still be back with plenty of time for a late afternoon stroll on the beach or a bit of souvenir shopping!
Cozumel Marine Park
- Scuba Playa Dive Shop offers daily 2 tank dive to dive these incredible reefs leaving from Playa Del Carmen with the 10:00 am ferry for a smooth 45 minutes ride.Once we step off the ferry in Cozumel our staff and boat are already waiting for you ready to take you on two amazing dives.
- The comfortable dive boat with sun deck and restroom, VHF radio, O2 and first aid kit guarantee the best option in Cozumel with bottles of water and soft drinks available the whole time while fresh fruit is served between the two dives. Our first dive is usually on one of the famous walls of the island, names that are famous all over the world like Santa Rosa Wall, Palancar Reef, Cedral Pass Wall or San Francisco Wall.
- The first dives in Cozumel have a multilevel profile with a maximum depth of 80 feet / 24 mt for a maximum bottom time of 45 minutes or 700psi / 50 bar. The coral formations start at a depth that may vary between 15 feet / 5 meters to
- 25 feet / 8 meters and drop all the way to 450 feet / 140 meters.
- Drifting along these walls (Cozumel diving is famous to be drift diving ) from south to north in an unbelievable experience, you can enjoy the coral on your right-hand side most of the time of the dive and turning left or below you FEEL THE BLUE looking for big creatures.
- The second dive of the day instead is always a shallower reef with a depth between 40 feet / 12 meters to 60 feet / 18 meters. Paradise Reef, Chankaanab Reef, Tormentos Reef or Yucab Reef are also very famous for the incredible marine life. The second dive has a bottom time of 45 minutes as well. After the two dives, the boat takes the divers back to our dive shop where a full lunch including a soup, a main course with fish, chicken, potato, salad and a fruit water is offered and included in your price.
Cenotes Caverns
- Cenote diving is a guided tour of a cavern in an overhead environment filled with crystal clear fresh water, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath. Once a sacred place for the ancient Mayans, Cenotes are a magical natural wonder unique to this part of the world that provide a fabulous, mysterious and safe diving experience.
- For certified divers only, cenote diving is best during the morning hours because of the sun rays reflecting in the water. An open water diver certification with reasonable recent diving experience are sufficient prerequisites for Cenote diving.
- Our typical Cenote diving experience will meet at Scuba Playa at 8:40 a.m., where we will load the ground transportation with all necessary gear and tanks. Once at the Cenote, and after a complete and comprehensive briefing, we will gear up and do the first dive. After a surface interval we will do a second dive in the same cenote system, but in a different line.
- Even though the average temperature of the Cenote water is 75°F / 24°C, a long wetsuit is highly recommended as we will move slowly and peacefully throughout the underground rivers.
- A lamp is also a required piece of equipment for Cenote diving which we will provide you with at no additional cost.
- Scuba Playa’s increased safety rules for Cenote diving include a maximum of 4 divers per guide, but if traveling in a larger group, we will have extra guides available. Our guides are Full Cave Certified and know the Cenotes like the back of their hands.
- The maximum depth for a Cavern dive is 21m-70ft, minimum visibility is 15m-50ft; maximum distance to an exit is 60 m/200ft and all passages are wide enough to fit at least 2 divers comfortably.
- All dives will be within no decompression limits and divers must always remain within the natural daylight zone. The cavern area usually has a guideline that leads back to open water. The cavern guide and the group must follow it, staying within an arm's length. The border between cavern and cave areas are clearly marked and we will not be diving beyond the warning signs.
- Our tour price includes two dives, one guide with a maximum of four divers, ground transportation to and from Scuba Playa to the Cenote, one entrance fee, tanks, weights and a light lunch.
- Additional Cenote diving options, such as Angelita or the Pit, which are the deepest sinkholes in the area suggested for experienced divers, or combinations that include a greater transportation distance or multiple entrance fees are also available upon request and will be quoted accordingly.
Bull Shark Diving
- Scuba playa offers a 2 tank dive every day for our divers to experience these majestic animals in their natural habitat. During the months of November to March, these beautiful creatures spend time with us in Playa Del Carmen before migrating North.
- We are offering both morning and afternoon dives, so whether you are an early riser or like a late breakfast you won't miss out!. Meeting time for the morning double tank is 8.00am. The first dive will be with the bull sharks as an
- observation dive (no chumming/feeding) and the second dive will be at a beautiful shallow reef nearby.
- We are also offering a 1 tank Bull Shark only dive in the afternoon meeting time at 12.00 noon.
- Group sizes will be limited to 6 divers per guide and we suggest that divers do a local reef dive prior to this dive if they are using new or unfamiliar equipment or have not dived within the last 12 months.
