Dive Overview

Raja Ampat diving is breathtakingly spectacular and truly unforgettable. Hard and soft corals compete for space on reefs that are bursting with life and color. Swarms of small fish such as damsels, fusiliers, and anthias mill about on the reef flats, while not too far away the large schools of tuna, trevally and mackerel congregate. Batfish, surgeonfish, and barracuda aggregate around jettys and reef points, while angel and butterflyfish decorate both the reef flats and jagged coral towers that are home to abundant marine life. Large fish species include napoleon wrasse, bumpheads, and giant sweetlips, and being in shark sanctuary, not a day goes by where divers don’t spot one of the many species of reef shark in the area.

8-Night Raja Ampat Itinerary (Misool & Dampier Strait)

• Starting from Sorong in West Papua, we do a nice check dive in the eastern part of the Dampier Strait, after which we set out to Batanta. At Dayang, a beautiful small sandy island and home to a population of Coconut Crabs, lying just at the entrance to one of Batanta's many scenic bays, colorful reefs with Wobbegong Sharks, schooling Yellow Snappers and great macro-life, including Pygmy Seahorses and unusual Nudibranchs, await us. Dayang island also offers a great chance to encounter Manta rays, the gentle giants, at their cleaning stations.
• After Dayang, we head further southeast to the soft-coral-paradise of Misool and its smaller surrounding islands. With its abundance of stunning dive sites this area invites to linger several days, indulging in the natural beauty of karst limestone, jungle clad islands.
• Diving around the small islands Daram and Yelliet we admire large coral heads covered in soft corals, maybe spotting the famous Santa Clause Pygmy Seahorse, while schools of Barracudas and Batfish might pass by. Here it is worth visiting the ranger station with a nice snorkeling opportunity and plenty of small Black Tip Reef Sharks. Our eagle-eyed dive masters may well find the fascinating Pom Pom Crab or the ‘Walking Shark’ (Epaulette Shark) on a night dive at Romeo Rock.
• In Boo area we look through the iconic Boo Windows, with tons of fish surrounding us. We explore fabulous dive sites like Magic Mountain, Nudibranch Rock and Yelliet Kecil. And if we are lucky, we see the majestic Oceanic and Reef Manta rays again around here.
• Wagmab, Farondi and No Contest offer us stunning underwater walls, overhangs and cave structures plus amazing macro, such as Nudibranchs, Flatworms, Anemone Crabs, all kinds of shrimps, and Electric File Clams. In this area we have the opportunity to visit the wonderful Balbulol Lagoon, a mustsee place, with its iconic bee-hive-shaped karst limestone formations and hard coral colonies at the bases of these amazing geological structures. If the tide is high enough our crew will take you to the secret bay right at the back of Balbulol.
• Next, we make our way north to Penemu. Famous Melissa’s Garden awaits us with its spectacular, healthy and wide-spread hard coral plateau in the shallows. At Fam Wall we can admire large Gorgonian Seafans and lovely reef tops, and we might also explore Fam Wall and My Reef. A short hike to viewpoint of Penemu offers a spectacular view of the lagoon and its surrounding islands.
• The remainder of our adventure we spend diving in the adrenalin-packed Dampier Strait. We can choose from world-class sites like Cape Kri, Chicken Reef, Mikes Point, Sardines Reef, Mios Kon and Blue Magic. Our guides can take you to places where the current meets the reef head on, where we can witness predatory fish (like for example Black Tip, White Tip and Grey Reef sharks, Giant Trevally, Spanish Mackerel and Dog Tooth Tuna) hunting huge schools of smaller fish like Fusiliers and Big Eye Jacks. Our last day will offer 2 more action-packed dives in the Dampier Strait and we can arrange for a bird watching trip on the last morning to see the enigmatic and endemic Red Bird of Paradise.
• Eventually we make our way back to Sorong for hearty goodbyes.

7-Night Raja Ampat Itinerary (Misool & Dampier Strait)

• Starting from Sorong in West Papua, we do a nice check dive in the eastern part of the Dampier Strait, after which we set out to Kawe. Here we visit Eagle Rock among others, named for the majestic eagles
• circling above the small, rocky islands. Underwater, divers can encounter creatures like Wobbegong Sharks, Sweetlips, Sardines, Barracudas, Tuna, Bumphead Parrotfish and Reef Sharks, even the occasional Manta ray!
• Black Rock, where soft corals bloom in a variety of colors from the rocky outcrops, amazes us as Raja Ampat’s full abundance comes to life in a most vibrant display. One Tree Island and Weka's Wow make for splendid day dives, too. Our night dive we might enjoy at Aljui Bay, where will be on a critter hunt. It is not unusual to find macro favorites like Frogfish and Ghost Pipefish.
• In this area we could take a little detour to visit the pearl farm close by.
• Our next destination is the world-famous Wayag where we indulge in stunning panoramas. Uninhabited and incredibly picturesque, Wayag Island is an icon of Raja Ampat. Covering a total area of 155,000 hectares it is known for its beautiful atolls and extraordinary underwater life. Breathtaking at every turn, in Wayag you will find pristine beaches and the unique Karst islands that resemble mushrooms sprouting from the sea.
• The dives at Far Out Rock and Figure of 8 are characterized by pelagics like Giant Trevally, schools of Big Eye Trevally, Reef Sharks, and if we are lucky small schools of Mobula Ray. Then we let the day unwind with a night dive at the ranger station or a beach barbeque.
• After that we head on to Wofu, which has several unique dive sites easily reachable from one mooring point, allowing us to relax in this incredibly scenic area. On one side we will have the backdrop of Wofu and Wofu Kecil, 2 small islands with pristine white coral sand beaches and on the other side we can take in vistas of the forested mountains and valleys of West Waigeo, Raja Ampat's largest island. The dive sites at Wofu are famous for stunning Back Coral forests, where we will look for critters like Ornate Ghost Pipefish, Tozeuma Shrimps and Black Coral Crabs. The walls are interesting with ledges and shallow caverns where it is not uncommon to find Wobbegong sharks. Rope sponges are abundant here and we will be searching for Frogfish perched on these sponges, poised, motionless and ready to gulp small fish. Wofu has some very colorful hard corals in the shallows, where dense schools of Anthias, Chromis and Damsels can be found. The night dive on the sandy slope in front of the beach is top draw, common favorite sightings would be Robust Ghost Pipefish and the Indian Walkman.
• Next, we make our way to Penemu. Famous Melissa’s Garden awaits us with its spectacular, healthy and wide-spread hard coral plateau in the shallows. Famous ones like Citrus Ridge and Mayhem always amaze divers with their vibrancy and biodiversity. The area here is probably so abundant due to the surrounding mangroves. Beautiful hard and soft corals grow under and among the roots of the trees, so a dive at Mangrove Ridge is truly enjoyable. And our crew will be happy to take you out in the dingy to snorkel in the mangroves in between dives. Sunsets and sunrises are very special at our mooring point at Yengefo: as the sun drops, the surrounding forested hills become alive with flocks of Sulphur Crested Cockatoo's and Blyths Hornbills emerge to return to their roosting places.
• The remainder of our adventure we spend diving in the adrenalin-packed Dampier Strait. We can choose from world-class sites like Cape Kri, Chicken Reef, Mikes Point, Sardines Reef, Mios Kon and Blue Magic. • As a next stop, Momon awaits us for exploring a seamount and followed by a channel dive. Tanjung Papisoi, known for its incredible fish species diversity, will fascinate us likewise.
• Now we head right into Triton Bay, visiting the fishing platforms called “bagans” in the hope for some whale shark action. But apart from these beautiful creatures, the region offers us so much more. 10-Night Triton Bay & Banda Sea itinerary (Kaimana to Ambon)

• Triton Bay in West Papua, with its incredible marine biodiversity is known as the final frontier of diving in Indonesia. To the West, the amazing Banda Sea offers another divers’ paradise, both of which we explore on this cruise.
• We start our adventure right in Triton Bay, visiting the fishing platforms called “bagans” hoping for some whale shark action. Apart from these beautiful creatures, the region offers a lot more. At Pulau Aiduma for example, dive sites will stun us completely with their rich, colorful biodiversity in hard and soft corals as well as fish species, such as Fusiliers, Groupers, Bumpheads and many more; not forgetting the macro life, such as Ghost Pipe Fish and Pygmy Seahorses.
• We will indulge in this wonderful environment for several days and have the opportunity to explore the stunning nature also above the water on a jungle trek through lush, untouched rainforest.
• After Triton Bay, we will head West for Koon island at the Northern end of Banda Sea. We will enjoy a high variety of schooling fish as well as predators, but also colorful, healthy corals and macro life can be found here.
• Our next stop is Manuk, an uninhabited volcanic island, that offers nice reefs surrounded by black sand, but also walls, slopes and sandy bays. We can find plenty of sea snakes here and pelagics might pass by. Above the water, amazing bird life can be observed in form of colonies of Frigates, Boobies and Tropic Birds that make the volcano their home.
• Culturally interesting Banda Neira and the rocky Suanggi island await us with spectacular diving at pristine hard-coral reefs. We have a good chance to see schooling fish like Jacks and Tuna, and potential pelagics here as well.
• On Banda Neira, we can explore the historical town on land, which was once the global center of nutmeg and mace trade, and indulge in the view of Gunung Api, a 650-metre-high active volcano.
• Then, we will head on to Nusa Laut, with stunning dives on walls and slopes. The dive sites here offer us a large variety of reef fish as well as interesting macro life. We might encounter Bumphead Parrotfish and schools of Jackfish here.
• Next, we will move to Ambon Bay for some muck diving. If we are lucky, we might spot the Psychedelic Frogfish, but even if not: this unique ecosystem offers plenty of other interesting marine life, such as Moray Eels, Ghostpipefish, Ribbon Eels, Rhinopias, Stonefish and more.
• We will disembark in Ambon and wish guests farewell after an amazing journey.

10-Night Banda Sea & Triton Bay itinerary (Ambon to Kaimana)

• The amazing Banda Sea offers us a true diver’s paradise and further east Triton Bay, with its incredible marine biodiversity is known as the final frontier of diving in Indonesia.
• We start our adventure in Ambon Bay with some muck diving. If we are lucky, we might spot the Psychedelic Frogfish, but even if not: this unique ecosystem offers plenty of other interesting marine life, such as Moray Eels, Ghostpipefish, Ribbon Eels, Rhinopias, Stonefish and more.
• Then, we will head on to Nusa Laut, with stunning dives on walls and slopes. The dive sites here offer us a large variety of reef fish as well as interesting macro life. We might encounter Bumphead Parrotfish and schools of Jackfish here.
• Culturally interesting Banda Neira and the rocky Suanggi island await us with spectacular diving at pristine hard-coral reefs. We have a good chance to see schooling fish like Jacks and Tuna, and potential pelagics here as well.
• On Banda Neira we can explore the historical town on land, which was once the global center of nutmeg and mace trade, and indulge in the view of Gunung Api, a 650-metre-high active volcano.
• Our next stop is Manuk, an uninhabited volcanic island, that offers nice reefs surrounded by black sand, but also walls, slopes and sandy bays. We can find plenty of sea snakes here and pelagics might pass by. Above the water, amazing bird life can be observed in form of colonies of Frigates, Boobies and Tropic Birds that make the volcano their home.
• Then, we will head for Koon island at the Northern end of Banda Sea. We will enjoy a high variety of schooling fish as well as predators, but also colorful, healthy corals and Macro life can be found here.
• After Koon, we will cross East into Triton Bay, visiting the fishing platforms called “bagans” in the hope for some whale shark action. Apart from these beautiful creatures, the region offers us a lot more. At Pulau Aiduma for example, dive sites will stun us completely with their rich, colorful biodiversity in hard and soft corals as well as fish species, such as Fusiliers, Groupers, Bumpheads and many more; not forgetting macro life, such as Ghost Pipe Fish and Pygmy Seahorses.
• We will indulge in this wonderful environment for several days and have the opportunity to explore the stunning nature also above the water on a jungle trek through lush, untouched rainforest.
• We will disembark in Kaimana and wish our guests farewell after an amazing journey.

• The amazing Banda Sea offers us a true diver’s paradise and further south, the Forgotten Islands with their many archipelagos are an exciting destination to discover.
• We start our adventure in Ambon Bay with some muck diving. If we are lucky, we might spot the Psychedelic Frogfish, but even if not: this unique ecosystem offers plenty of other interesting marine life, such as Moray Eels, Ghostpipefish, Ribbon Eels, Rhinopias, Stonefish and more.
• Then, we will head on to Nusa Laut, with stunning dives on walls and slopes. The dive sites here offer us a large variety of reef fish as well as interesting macro life. We might encounter Bumphead Parrotfish and schools of Jackfish here.

We can find plenty of sea snakes here and pelagics might pass by. Above the water, amazing bird life can be observed in form of colonies of Frigates, Boobies and Tropic Birds that make the volcano their home.
• Then, Deep Banda with its atolls will invite us to indulge in pristine hard coral reefs. And with luck we spot further pelagics, maybe even some Silver Tips and Marlins around here.
• The remainder of our trip we take our time exploring various “forgotten” islands, like Pulau Nila, Pulau Teun Pulau Dai and Pulau Dewara, all bristling with amazingly pristine and healthy reefs, schooling fish, possibly pelagics as well.
• We will disembark in Saumlaki, wishing guests farewell after a wonderful adventure.

• Then, Deep Banda with its atolls will invite us to indulge in pristine hard coral reefs, too. And with luck we spot further pelagics, maybe even some Silver Tips and Marlins around here.
