Lembeh Resort is a picture-perfect luxury dive resort hidden in a jungle landscape. It has everything you want on a relaxing dive holiday: amazing food, lounge areas with incredible views, a pool overlooking the ocean, cottages on the cliffside, and (at times) the sound of soft guitars and singing from the staff. At first, it’s hard to imagine ever leaving the resort at all, even if it is to dive Lembeh Strait!
Luckily, the best dive sites are just minutes from the resort, so guests often return between dives to relax. But believe me – the experience underwater rivals that on land. Any number of critters can be discovered on a single dive, and guests often are faced with the “problem” of needing to expand their critter wish lists during their stay. Underwater photographers will bounce from one exciting photo subject to the next.
The dive operation, run by Critters@Lembeh, is second to none. This is in part due to the extensive knowledge of the guides, who receive continual training from both the marine biologist and photo pro on staff. Guides identify critters as they spot them, writing their names on slates to show divers and later add to a special critter log. They also have good knowledge of the type of shots photographers may be seeking. Critters@Lembeh also has a noteworthy dive center, which includes personal locker space, showers, dedicated rinse tanks, 30-person camera room and the photo center for camera rentals, repairs and classes.
Make sure to check in for tomorrow’s post where we share some photos from today, including some very rare critters!
